Pembridge
Pembridge is described as the jewel in the crown of the Black and White Village Trail. Occupied before the Magna Carta every street contains attractive medieval buildings and was a contender for Village of the Year 2018. Look out for Old Chapel Gallery which regularly holds exhibitions and proudly showcases work from British makers. Westonbury Mill Water Gardens is home to the largest cuckoo clock in England, read more on this in our Gardens section.
Kington
As a town, not a village, Kington sneaks into the mix with its distinctive architecture and location. The picture postcard clock tower and market hall built in 1887 acts as a focal point for markets and events. Read much more about Kington on its dedicated pages.
Eardisland
offers a peaceful retreat and is a perfect base from which to explore the area.
Lyonshall
Lyonshall was listed in the Domesday Book and once had its own castle, today it is a picturesque ruin in private ownership, with a well-formed moat and outer enclosure covering approximately three acres. The Church, St Michael and all Angels, shares the elevated position of the castle.
Eardisley
This pretty quaint village with its cottages and gardens has many timbered buildings along its high street, with some dating back to the 14thC. In the centre is Tram Square, which in times gone by was part of the horse-drawn tramway route.
Along the trail you can take a break at The Angel in Kingsland beautiful family run 16thC black and white pub for some home cooked food and a warm welcome. Or pop across to stunning Mortimer Country where you will find The Riverside Inn at Aymestrey serving food grown from its own gardens along with artisan ales and ciders, a real foodie treat.
