DAYCOVERS
On arrival the beds in each cabin are set up as displayed in the pictures above. At turn down the daycovers are removed, together with the scatter cushions. Depending on the amount of guests the daycovers and cushions are either removed completely and do not get used again for the rest of the trip (excepting for the Master cabin), or they are stored in a cabin that is not being used and they’re put back on every morning and removed at evening turn down.
When there is a full boat:
As mentioned above, when all cabins are in use, the daycovers and cushions for the VIP, Cabin 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all removed. During turn down on the first day, the girl on housekeeping will pack the day covers into a plastic Ikea bag (located in the vacuum cupboard on the lower level), attaching a tag to the bag indicating which cabin they came from. The bags are then placed down in the ‘LUGGAGE BILGE’ in the crew corridor for the duration of the charter, and they are not used again.
In this instance the MASTER is the only cabin to keep its daycover, being put on every morning and removed each evening. The scatter cushions are placed in the black Asian cupboards either side of the bathroom door, and the daycover can be stored in the cupboard in the Master Office (along with any other cushions that couldn’t fit elsewhere).
When there is a cabin free on charter:
In this instance, when the daycovers and cushions are removed during turn down they are taken to the vacant cabin where they are folded neatly and placed in an orderly fashion. The daycovers are then put back onto the beds every day during morning housekeeping, and removed every evening during turndown. The Master daycover and cushions can be stored in the cupboards located in the cabin.
