If you prefer to admire the views from the water, climb
on board a cruise boat at Brecon canal basin for a gentle
cruise up the 224 yr old Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal,
you might spot a kingfisher along the way. Gentle, traffic
free cycling is available along the tow path.
To stretch your legs, leave your car in town and take a
T4 bus up to Pen y Fan. The bus is a pound per person
from Brecon or Merthyr Tydfil to the Storey Arms bus stop
until the end of August. There are less crowded routes in
the hills on both sides of the road, or you can follow the
Taff Trail p6 8.2 miles downhill back to Brecon.

If golf is your thing, there are several fantastic courses in
the area - Brecon, Builth Wells, The Monmouthshire in
Abergavenny and Morlais Castle near Merthyr. As well as
