JMW Turner visited the Wye Valley and Hereford to sketch and paint; Elgar composed his oratorio The Kingdom whilst living in the City. But people in Herefordshire also value individuals such as Brian Hatton and Thomas Traherne who are less well-known,
but have made an enduring contribution to our cultural heritage. Today, Herefordshire is home to an amazing array of artists, makers, performers, composers, and musicians whose creative talents are constantly fuelled by the wonder of the place where we live. Come and join us in our beautiful county and you, too, will be inspired! ”
Clare Wichbold MBE
Clare Wichbold MBE is not a native to Herefordshire but she and her husband Dave have been in the county for nearly 20 years. She now works at Hereford Cathedral as a fundraiser, having spent many years at Herefordshire Council helping local organisations to successfully bid for grants from local, regional and national funders.
Clare was a founder member of the Herefordshire Cultural Partnership and remains passionate about encouraging community involvement in the arts and culture.
As Chairman of the Hereford Three Choirs Festival, she is really looking forward to the return of this wonderful feast of music to the City in the summer.
