3.3 COMMON KNOTS AND THEIR USES
Knots are used when ropes need to be fastened. Not only is it important
to know how to tie a knot properly, but it is equally important to know the proper application of the knot. The variety of knots is almost unlimited. This section will focus on knots that are most common to the power delivery industry.
BOWLINE - 65% EFFICIENT
The Bowline is 65% e cient.
If a rope’s catalog breaking strength is 1,000 pounds and a bowline is tied in it, the rope will break at 650 pounds.
1,000 x .65 = 650
