Ben thought for a second, then disappeared and
reappeared holding the bottle among muffled giggles
and sneers. Kayleigh restarted the timer.
"Honestly, have you ever noticed how it's way
easier to spill your guts to someone you don't even
know? Like, you'll tell some random guy at the gym or
a taxi driver or even the lady who needs her driveway
shoveled, but you won't tell your own family or
friends?
"I mean, think about it.
"First, there's no drama. They don't know all the
weird stuff about you, like how you always blame
others for your problems or how much you hate your
stepdad. They only know what you tell 'em.
"Second, you get a fresh perspective. Your friends
and family are sick of hearing you complain about the
same stuff over and over, but a stranger might actually
have some useful advice.
"And, third, some scientist at UBC, Dr. Elizabeth
Dunn, found out that talking to a stranger can actually
make you happier than talking to a friend! Who knew?
"So yeah, let's all just Speak-Up and be happy,
