NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
Chapter 7:
The Angel on Main Street
Holly Castillo's eyes scanned the unfamiliar streets
of Port Hope, her one-year-old daughter Prudence
securely strapped into the jogging stroller. Two months
ago, they'd made the move for her husband's teaching
job, leaving behind the comfort and security of their
old life. As a stay-at-home mom, Holly felt isolated,
uncertain, and stuck in a rut.
That's when the accident struck. The stroller's tire
blew out, sending Prudence into a fit of wails. Holly's
face burned with embarrassment as she struggled to
calm her daughter. The townspeople seemed to be
staring, judging her. It was the final straw. Port Hope
was not going to work out.
But then, a guardian angel appeared. A young girl,
with a kind face and a bike, pulled up beside them.
