He flicked the main light switch, leaving the glass
cage dark and silent. He walked to the elevator,
listening to the muffled sounds of the city, the blue
panic line retreating behind him, safe in its comforting,
chemical delusion. He felt a sharp, dangerous
lightness. The system was protected, but Henry was
finally off the clock.
He was done with the pretence.
