Divine Spark Rising
“Or she was right,” Hafid said quietly. “And we
are the ones afraid of peace.”
Carolina’s gaze caught a faint blue glow from
the harbor — the same spectral hue that had
haunted Lisbon. “It’s following us,” she said.
“No,” Zhara’s voice drifted from behind them.
“It’s calling you.”
They turned. Zhara held a small hand-cranked
recorder. “Something is coming through from the
other side of the network. Listen.”
She pressed play. Jinji’s voice, fragmented but
clear, spilled into the night.
“Find the poet who can’t be recorded. She’s your
doorway. Her words exist outside prediction.”
Zhara’s eyes glimmered. “The girl. Sera.”
Carolina whispered, “She’s alive?”
Zhara nodded. “More than most.”
