DEEP REST
The humming intensified. The pressure
excruciating. Evelyn cried out, her body arching
against the restraints. Her mind felt like it was being
ripped apart, every thought, every secret, being
forcibly extracted.
She saw Mallory again, her eyes filled with
determination. Fight, Ev. Don't let them have it.
Evelyn focused on Mallory’s image. On the
counter-frequency. She pushed back, not with
strength, but with a precise, internal manipulation. She
tried to create a feedback loop, to overload their
system, to corrupt the data they were trying to steal.
On the monitors, her brain activity spiked wildly,
then began to fluctuate in a chaotic, unpredictable
pattern. The data streams twitched, corrupted.
"System overload!" Dr. Volkov exclaimed. "Her
neural output is destabilizing our probes! We're losing
the connection!"
The Director slammed his fist on the desk.
"Stabilize it! Do not lose the data! Do not damage the
asset!"
Evelyn gasped. She was fighting. Even now.
Liam, Cassandra, and The Shadow.
