DEEP REST
"No," she said, shaking her head. "Not a coma. A
state of total stillness. A reset. It's not sleep, but it
allows the brain to heal itself, to reorganize, to shed
the burdens of trauma and despair."
She showed him the EEG data from her own
session, simplified, anonymized. "This is what I
observed in myself. This unique oscillation. It’s like a
cleansing wave."
He looked at the screen, then at her. "You… you
tried this on yourself?"
"Yes," she admitted, her voice firm. "I wouldn't
ask you to do anything I haven't done. And Liam, I
truly believe this could help you. It's experimental,
yes. But you've exhausted every other.”
He took a shaky breath. "What do I have to lose,
Doctor? I'm already… gone."
"Nothing, Liam. You have nothing to lose. Only a
chance to reclaim yourself."
Evelyn explained the process: the sensory
deprivation chamber, the specialized audio
frequencies, the need for complete surrender. Liam
nodded.
"I'll try anything," he said. "Anything to make it
stop."
The Chamber.
