Frankie's eyes widened, her voice filled with awe,
"You found a whole new world."
Lara leaned in, her curiosity piqued, "And what did
you discover about yourself?"
Paul's brow furrowed, his tone skeptical, "Timeless
moment? What do you mean?"
“After supper, Raghu and I would sit on the rooftop,
watching the stars and sharing our discoveries—and
occasionally, our shared love of jazz.
Joyful to talk in his native language, Raghu revealed
an uncanny connection he'd uncovered between faith
and fortune while listening to Dave Brubeck’s iconic
recording of Take Five.
“This is awesome,” Paul remarked, his eyes wide with
fascination. Thomas continued, referring to his journal
from time to time.
"Here.” he said, and he read.
“Raghu insisted that tune has a deeper connection to
the universe than we realize. It's not just the music—it's
written in 5/4 time. Some experts believe the addictive
drum pattern was inspired by Indian rhythms; others,
that it was Bulgarian street musicians in Turkey; either
way, it got him thinking."
Thomas paused, flipping through the dog-eared
