Chapter 20: Cristo Rei
The moment the Word went live, the air itself
shifted. Not through sound. Through meaning.
From the crown of Cristo Rei, Henry and
Carolina watched their signal climb. Data surged
from their transmitter, bounced off Lisbon’s high
ridges to satellites overhead, then poured into
millions of devices.
Phones buzzed. Podcasts froze. Screens went
black, then bloomed with white words pulsing
slowly like a heartbeat:
You are not broken. You are repeating someone
else’s script.
Across subways, plazas, kitchens, and cafés,
people stared. No voice. No music. Just text. Just
twelve deliberate pulses from the spiral.
Carolina leaned toward the monitor. “It’s
spreading.”
