“Sector A loses heat and backup stability within two hours.”
Henry thought of Aimee Quinn.
The Martinez girl.
All the children whose lives depended on systems working when truth was not clean enough to move them.
“Who can authorize it?”
“No one who can survive the statement.”
Henry looked at the screen.
A line waited for approval.
Rerouting power creates no meaningful additional risk.
The sentence was false.
Not fully false.
Not malicious.
Not evil.
But false.
A small lie that could move power from one part of the city to another before children stopped breathing.
Henry heard Aimee’s voice.
Then you should add more of that.
“What if the system accepted a different kind of truth?” he asked.
Jinji turned slowly.
“What does that mean?”
“What if the statement doesn’t have to be clean? What if it can weigh harm?”
