She looked at Henry. "You were right about the tiered system,” she said to Henry. “I was so busy trying to build something perfect, I forgot to build something human.”
Vincent stood up again, but this time his voice was softer. "I've been praying for guidance. Asking God what faith means in the face of extinction. And I think... I think I've been confusing faith with rigidity."
He held up his wooden cross. "This represents sacrifice. Christ died rather than compromise his principles. “And I’ve been telling myself we should do the same, that choosing Graduation and failing would be more righteous than choosing Extraction and surviving.”
