“I’m not a priest,” Vincent said.
“And he’s not done lying,” Jinji said.
Henry looked at her.
She held his stare.
“You brought the confession?”
Henry opened his coat and took out the envelope. Thirty-two pages.
Names, dates, companies, lies.
He placed it on the table.
Jinji didn’t touch it.
“Printed,” she said. “That’s theatrical.”
“I didn’t know what you wanted.”
“I wanted to see if you’d bring it.”
“And?”
“You brought paper. Not consequences.”
Henry felt the sting of that.
Vincent reached for the envelope.
“May I?”
Henry nodded.
Vincent opened it and read the first page.
His expression did not change.
That made it worse.
After a minute, he looked up.
“This is ugly.”
“I know.”
