The Truth About Lying
The Premise Beneath the Trilogy
At the heart of The Divine Spark Trilogy is a question:
What if human beings were never meant to become fully human alone?
This trilogy imagines humanity as a species still becoming. Not simply more intelligent or technologically advanced, but more deeply connected.
We have consciousness. We know ourselves. We understand shame, love, mortality, choice, good and evil, self and other. But awareness alone has not made us whole. It has often made us frightened, divided, secretive, and alone.
What if the next stage of human development is not something that happens only inside us?
What if it happens between us?
Ancient stories describe the moment humanity became aware. Aware of nakedness. Separation. Desire. Death. The terrible knowledge that we are each contained within a separate life.
But those same stories also reveal something else. Human beings gathered. They made fire, language, ritual, music, stories, meals, communities, and ways of caring for one another. From the beginning, our survival depended not only on what we could understand, but on what we could share.
In the imagined world of these books, Earth may be more than a planet. It may be an incubator for consciousness. But consciousness is only the beginning.
The greater test is what we do with it. 6
