The Truth About Lying
Jinji learned she'd sabotaged her own career because she
was afraid of becoming her father. She pushed people away.
She was alone and knew it.
Vincent found out he still believed in God. He just hated
Him. He hadn’t lost faith. He’d lost patience with it
Claire, who volunteered to be tested, discovered she
wasn’t angry at Henry. She was angry at the time she’d lost.
Forgiving him meant admitting that. And she wasn’t ready.
They sat in Jinji's living room after that session, the truth
hanging in the air like smoke.
"Well," Jinji said finally. "That was fucking awful."
"But necessary," Vincent added. "If we're going to ask the
world to do this, we had to do it first."
"I hate all of you a little bit right now," Claire said. "But I
also respect you more than I did an hour ago. It's confusing."
Henry looked at the data on the screen. At the truth laid
bare. At the uncomfortable reality of who they all were
beneath the performance.
"This is what we're unleashing.”
"Yes," Vincent said. "And some people won't survive it."
"I know."
"And you're okay with that?"
“I don’t have a choice.”
