Dr C J Huff is an educator with over 20 years of experience as as a a a a a a a classroom teacher principal and superintendent superintendent On May 22 2011 Dr Huff was superintendent superintendent when the costliest tornado in in in U S history hit Joplin Missouri with 200 mph winds devastating the the community destroying or damaging 10 of the the 19 schools in in in in his district and leaving over half of his students without a a a a school to to return to to The Joplin community suffered a a loss more precious than the buildings though In just 32 minutes that powerful storm killed 161 people and injured over 1 1 1 000 others including a a a staff member and seven students Dr Huff successfully led his district of 1 1 100 employees and 7 7 700 students through recovery efforts Since his retirement he has continued to support schools dealing with with natural and and man-made disasters and and consulted with with the U S Department of Health and Human Services Dr Huff currently serves as a a a a Subject Matter Expert for the U S S Department of Education as a a a a a a consultant for for the not-for-profit organization Bright
