 Extreme Weather Procedure
Welcome to the Harvest Policy Corner where we address some of the current policies used within the College.
In order to ensure adequate weather protection for students and staff, and to maintain our integrity regarding our SunSmart recognition and associated requirements, Harvest Christian College adheres to our Extreme Weather Procedure.
The Procedure applies on school days subject to heavy rain, strong wind and/or extreme heat. As we are entering the Summer months, it is a good time to become acquainted or reacquainted with our procedure regarding hot weather.
During extreme or catastrophic hot weather, the front office manager or delegate will observe the outside temperature before Recess and Lunch. If the weather is deemed as extreme, the College Office will do
an internal and external call-out five minutes prior to the first bell at Recess or Lunch and tell staff that the extreme weather roster will come into effect. Students have nominated classrooms to access during extreme weather.
During days of extreme or catastrophic weather where the temperature reaches above 36 degrees, students may wear their PE uniform. The College Office will gauge the day’s weather using the WIlly Weather App and will send a note home the afternoon before on these occasions.

  Attendance Reminder
If your child is away from school, it is important that you notify us as soon as possible, preferably prior to the start of the school day on which they are absent, with an explanation for their absence. You can do this by emailing your child’s Homegroup teacher or the Front Office.
In line with our Student Attendance Policy/Procedure, which is available on the Parent Portal, parents and caregivers need to:
 • ensure their child arrives at the College or commences their educational program on time every day;
• minimise disrupting their child’s school day so their child has the best opportunity to learn;
• contact the College prior to any planned absences;
• provide an explanation (in writing) for each absence, prior to or on the day of the child’s
return to the College;
• provide a medical certificate to the College on the day of the child’s return to the College if
the child was away for three or more consecutive days due to illness; and
• ensure their child follows the College’s recommended processes and procedures for late
arrival and early departure.

Disabled Car Parks
We kindly request that you avoid utilising the designated disabled parking
spots located in front of the College for the purpose of quick pick-ups or drop-offs.
This practice has resulted in individuals who rely on these parking spots being unable to access them. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this issue.
