Arena Sales’ new workshop.
The order for 33 Wright New Bus for London H62T was completed in April for the take up of the contract for TfL route 13.
eventually handed over during March.
A recent purchase is Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (SN58VAN) which is to be used as a service van. It was purchased from bankrupt stock and had been in storage for some considerable time and thus has very low mileage. It was purchased on the 15th January and delivered to the Arena Bus & Coach depot where it was based until the new covered building was completed. The building and yard were resurfaced on the 7th March and vehicles moved back in on the 10th.
The bus formerly fitted experimentally with Gyrodrive equipment, Dennis Trident/ ALX400 H69D LDT597 (LP03YHJ) was withdrawn in March and sold to Exclusive Motor Services.
The contract for TfL route 67 (Wood Green - Aldgate) has been extended for two years under the Quality Incentive scheme and will now expire in April 2020.
A new name on the streets of Hurstford City, Bus Smart is a small bus firm which is in competition with Gipping Valley and is a low fares 'budget' company advertising routes from the city bus and coach station. The first service is Hospital route 88 which has a fare of just £1 (against the £1.50 fare charged by Gipping Valley) and is operated by four Dennis Dart/ Plaxton Pointers.
This year sees City & Royal celebrate 20 years of service. Five vehicles have been painted into a special livery covering the 3 main liveries worn by C&R vehicles over the 20 years.
The fleet and route network has finally been completed with assistance from ADT Travel Group. This information is available from the operator if required. With summer not far off, new seasonal routes have started in Brighton, Eastbourne and the South West. Service reductions will happen on the 25 (Sussex University - Palmeria Square) due to the university finishing for summer.
It is still to be seen what sort of impact to council funding in C&R operational areas has on the services provided or funded by local councils. Hopefully more information will be available before the next fleet report.

The order for 33 Wright New Bus for London H62T was completed in April with the arrival of NBL734-43 (LS17PGP/R-Z). The final four did not arrive quite in time for the take up of the contract for TfL route 13 (North Finchley - Victoria) on 1st April, so the ex City Transport Enviro 400s mentioned in the last report, blue liveried Trident/ ALX400 LDT596 and other buses spare from school routes during the Easter break made up the shortfall for the first couple of weeks or so.
Prior to entry into service, NBL714/5 had been used to train drivers and mechanics at Finchley Garage in March, whilst NBL717 was sent to Cheltenham between 14th and 17th March to assist Crossways with Cheltenham Races services.
