100 Minimizing perceptual mismatches
Perceptual mismatches are hidden; they are not easily revealed. And yet, an awareness of them is required to achieve the objectives of learning and teaching. The aim of creating an awareness of the perceptual mismatches in the language classroom can be achieved only through negotiated interaction among the participants in the classroom event. The next chapter deals with the importance of ne- gotiated interaction in class.
