 Ida Kvetny: Untitled, 2017.
Glazed ceramics, ca. 10 x 10 x 10 cm.
Ida Kvetny works interdisciplinary. Often, she combines painting, drawing, and ceramics with new digital technologies such as animation and virtual reality. With Kvetny, the motifs are often surrealistic and dreamy in colorful shades and with abstract elements. The universe Kvetny creates points back towards a traditionalist view on image and material, back to the figurative and painterly, and yet, she still succeeds in founding new ways that point towards the future as well: Towards the new potentials of technology and towards the dissolvement of set ideas on what art can be. Her animations and virtual reality works enable the viewer to become a part of the actual artwork, where one can step directly into Kvetny’s mythological and fairytale-like narratives and where the viewer’s position is up for negotiation.
Ida Kvetny (1980, DK) lives and works in Copenhagen. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art and Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in 2007. She has exhibited her works nationally and internationally at museums such as Brandts, DK; Arken Museum of Contemporary Art, DK; Holstebro Art Museum, DK; Ystad Museum of Art, SE; Seoul Museum of Art, KR, and The Torrance Art Museum, US. Ida Kvetny has created several commissioned works for public space and her work is represented in the collections of The Danish National Arts Foundation and The New Carlsberg Foundation.
