Carnival is Rio’s biggest event. It happens at the peak of the summer when “Cariocas” are at their best. Festivities attract hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world. Carnival is a 4-day cele- bration starting on Saturday and ending on Fat Tuesday. Carnival Sunday is seven weeks before Easter Sunday. Dates change every year. In 2022, it will happen from the 26 February through March 2 ‘22. The Samba School Parade at Rio’s Sambadrome is something every- one must experience at least once in a lifetime. The first division takes place on Sunday and Monday, with 6 Samba Schools per night. They are magnificent and sumptuous, each one counting with approximately four thousand participants. It starts at 9:00 pm and goes until sunlight the nest day, around 6-7 am. This samba marathon is also a fierce competition. Each year a school is downgraded from special to access group and vice-versa. The winners return on the following Saturday to perform the parade again.
Day 2 – Feb 27: Rio de Janeiro (Carni- val Parade)
Day at leisure. Enjoy the beach, go on a shopping spree, or join one of the many free carnival processions that takeplacealloverthecity. Intheearly evening you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the Sambodromo: the stage of Rio’s world-renowned carnival parade. The parade starts at around 9 pm and lasts all night. At the end you will be transferred back to the hotel. [B]
Day 1 – Feb 26: Welcome to Rio de Janeiro!
After you pass customs and immigra- tion at Galeão International Airport you will be met and assisted by our repre- sentative who will escort you to your hotel in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to rest and relax after the long flight. Maybe you want to dip into the ocean, relax in the sun or stroll along the famous beach. Overnight at the hotel.
