Day 4: Madalena (Velas [São Jorge Island])
Transfer to the pier. Ferry trip to São Jorge Island. Arrival at Vila de Velas and start of the full day tour of the island. We will enjoy the most beautiful land- scapes of “Dragons Island” and its Fajãs - Biosphere Reserve. We will visit the North Coast, with stops at the view- points over the most imposing Fajãs: Fajã do Ouvidor, Cubres and Santo Cristo. Passing through Toledo, Santo António. In Rosais, stop at Sete Fontes Forest Park with a short walk, in Manadas - at the foot of the highest point of the island, Urzelina church tower and Velas viewpoint. Visit to the cheese factory of the island with cheese tasting at the end and time for a visit to a local handicraft house. Lunch during the tour. In Velas, visit the Mother
Church of St. George. The visit ends at Velas’ pier. Ferry trip back to Pico. Accommodation at the hotel. [B/L/T]
Day 5: Madalena, Angra do Heroismo [Terceira Is.]
Transfer to Pico airport. Flight to Angra do Heroismo (Terceira Island). Transfer from Lajes Airport (Terceira Island) to hotel in Angra do Heroísmo. Free day at Leisure. Accommodation at the hotel. [B]
Day 6: Angra do Heroismo
Discover the south and east coast of the island. Stop at Monte Brasil, a volcanic peninsula with viewpoint to the city of Angra. Then visit one of the
oldest churches on the island (1455) and the Empire of the Divine Holy Spirit in São Sebastião. We will go up to Serra do Cume (stop at a viewpoint overlooking one of the largest boilers in the Azores – “Patchwork” land- scapes). Stop for a Regional Lunch. After lunch visit to Algar do Carvão (empty volcano). Next visit to the sulfur furnas (fumarolic field). Continuation towards the Biscoitos Natural Pools. Stop at Raminho viewpoint with the possibility of sighting three other islands of the central group. Visit to a cheese factory and tasting at the end of the visit. Return to Angra do
Heroismo. Accommodation at the hotel. [B/L/T]
Day 7: Angra do Heroismo, Ponta Delgada [São Miguel Is.]
Transfer to Angra do Heroísmo Airport. Flight to Ponta Delgada - Sao Miguel Island. Arrival at Ponta Delgada Airport and transfer to the hotel located in the capital of the island. Ponta Delgada is a modern city that retains its original design with its narrow streets full of traditional shops, markets and “delicatessen” shops. Accommodation at the hotel. [B]
