Maidstone, which entails trips through the Dartford crossing every other week. Richard has been in touch with David as well, reporting that he is now settled in Colchester and adjusted to living in a town. He is currently working as a consultant to a firm of specialist compensation and utility surveyors, which can keep him very busy at times, but he still finds time to enjoy teaching the occasional first aid course. Richard’s daughter has taken up the drums and she had her first professional gig in June aged just 11. Richard now finds himself acting as a roadie again – the last time was 38 years ago helping Paul Barrett with his disco!
David has also heard from Jeremy Sankey (Lx 78).This year has been one of Jes continuing with work, whilst his wife, Chantelle, became a stay-at-home mum, having given up her job last June. Any chance of rest at the weekends has to be balanced by the need to be uber dad, taking kids to multiple sports; a cold beer on Saturday evening is most welcome! Meanwhile, they had a visit from Jes’ nephew, Oli, son of Anthony Sankey (Lx 73). As a result, his kids now realise that cousins are real and so want to meet the rest of them. So, this will mean that the next visit to the UK will now involve the whole family and probably take in a trip to Paris/Rome/Barcelona/Berlin before Brexit messes it up for everyone.
Finally, David reports that he has also seen his cousin, Colonel William English, CBE (Lx 80), at family gatherings. William and his family continue to live a mile down the road from David and William is now actively enjoying life following his retirement from the Army. David has also seen Richard Piper (Lx 66), who continues to grace David’s firm with his custom.
In November Richard Maddison (Sc 55), Hamish Donaldson (Ldr 54) and Ian Wainwright (Ldr 55) had a reunion dinner of the 1952 Maths VIC at Ian and Sheila Wainwright ‘s house in Wallingford. Important matters were put to rights, including the fate of the Brewster Maths Prize.
Jock Glover (Sc 91) is still living in North-West Hampshire commuting to London on a daily basis. Having been at JPMorgan for 13 years, he has just resigned in order to work for a small consultancy in the asset management

sector with just 25 employees, which is very exciting. Andrew Robertson (G 89) got in contact to touch base with his nephew, Alexander Wienand (L 16), who was doing a summer internship at JPMorgan. Andrew is still teaching at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich. On a sporting front, he attended the OO London Sports Lunch as the Troubleshooters’ representative and managed to join the Troubleshooters at the veterans’ match at Bisley in July, when it was lovely to see lots of friendly faces on the firing point. He still sees quite a bit of Pippa Hudson (W 93) and her lovely family, and he has even managed a lunch in town with his godfather, Richard Valentine (D 62). Finally, he thought you might be interested to see the photograph which has 18 descendants of Buster Glover at a family reunion, including Jock, Richard Glover (Sc 62), Alastair Glover (Sc 65), Richard Lloyd-Williams (Sc 93) and Tom Lloyd-Williams (Sc 97).
Suzanne Korff (K 00), my daughter, is enjoying life in the New Forest, in a village just outside Lymington, with Alexander plus their children, Maximilian and Audrey. The Korffs are settling into their new home, which in due course will become more of a project. Suzanne is still Marketing Director for Princess Cruises based in Southampton. She
always enjoys catching up with fellow OOs, especially in London.
Although I retired from the Royal Air Force Club in 2015, I have had some short-term assignments in the club world within the past year, one being at the Lansdowne Club, which finished in January 2018 after six months. More recently, I have had a project at the Kennel Club. I continue to sing in Nutfield Church Choir and have been on a choral weekend at Bolton Abbey, which included three Evensongs and a Compline in the abbey ruins. In August 2018 I enjoyed a choral holiday in Milton Abbey for four days and some house-sitting in the New Forest thereafter. I also have a new title as the President-Elect of the Organ Club, which usually arranges visits on the third Saturday of the month to interesting churches and organs around the country. So much for retirement! Usually, there are also three visits to Oundle each year as a Corresponding Member. However, the March one was a no-go this year in view of the snow. My wife, Marianne, still works in the travel industry and our son, David Owen (F 03), continues as Senior First Officer with Etihad, flying the A380, and lives in Abu Dhabi, where we are planning a visit in the autumn. I’m looking forward to meeting some OOs at the Sussex Dinner in November and, in the meantime, thank you for all your news.
