A special Noozhawk.com Salute to Nurses feature highlighted the hard work and dedication of clinic team members who built a drive-thru COVID-19 testing operation and opened and still work at a vaccine clinic on nights and
weekends to meet the needs of our community.
Pediatrician Dr. Dan Brennan is the voice of calm and reason in his regular Noozhawk.com columns where he writes about all COVID-19 related topics like the drop in flu cases and vaccines for teens. He also talked with KSBY-TV about
how parents should seriously consider vaccines for children.
Cornea specialist Dr. Kirsten Wagner shed light on the rising number of LASIK procedures during the pandemic in stories with KEYT-TV and Santa Barbara News-Press.
And on a fun note, talented ophthalmologist and pianist extraordinaire Dr. Toni Meyers took center stage as
she joined the Santa Barbara Symphony for a special performance honoring healthcare workers.
Advancements in Female Urology
Not everyone is comfortable talking about incontinence options, but studies show that 40% of women suffer from urinary incontinence, and many remain untreated.
Dr. Alexandra Rogers in our Urology Department is passionate about providing the latest treatments to reduce troublesome issues such as leakage of urine with coughing, sneezing, heavy lifting and/or exercise; frequent or uncontrollable urges to go to the bathroom with leakage of urine before reaching the bathroom; needing costly incontinence products such as Pads or Depends to manage leakage; difficulty emptying one’s bladder; or inability to control bowel movements.
Bulkamid Therapy is a long-lasting, minimally invasive outpatient procedure for women suffering from stress urinary incontinence, a condition where leakage occurs during daily activities such as laughing, coughing or exercising. It’s clinically proven to deliver symptom relief, with 67% of women reporting being cured or greatly improved.
Axonics Implant Surgery is an advanced treatment option that provides gentle stimulation to the nerves that control the bladder and bowel.
This stimulation can help restore normal control of the bladder and bowel, resulting in symptom improvement for overactive bladder, fecal incontinence and even poor emptying of the bladder. Dr. Rogers is one of only a dozen providers in North America to be designated as an Axonics Center of Excellence and has both implanted the most Axonics devices and delivered the most Bulkamid injections in California.
Alexandra Rogers, MD is the only female fellowship-trained urologist in the sub-specialty of Female Urology and Voiding Dysfunction in the Santa Barbara area and trains other physicians how to best deliver Bulkamid Therapy and implant Axonics Devices.
