Grizzly tells the story of Yellowstone National Park’s grizzly bears. Shot over three years and narrated by Susan Sarandon, the programme intimately follows the dramatic journey of two grizzlies: a mother struggling to protect and teach her tiny young cubs, and a young male fighting for survival in a valley full of wolves, black bears and bigger grizzlies.
One of the oddest natural adaptations is super-deep sleep. These near-death experiences feature animals temporarily stopping their hearts and brains; others can hibernate for months at a time; while some can freeze themselves, employing a natural anti-freeze to keep their cells intact. But as we explore this natural time travel, we also discover that this lifestyle is not without risk.
