MISS RODEO OREGON 2022 AVALON IRWIN
Miss Rodeo Oregon 2022 Avalon Irwin
Avalon is the daughter of Brent and Julie Irwin of Bend, Oregon. Avalon grew up in Central Oregon where the love of all things outdoors was instilled in her from a young age. She is very excited to be back at the Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo where she was crowned a year ago. Avalon attended Biola University in California where she graduated with a Bachelors in
InterCultural Studies and a Minor in Biblical Studies. Avalon grew up attending rodeos where the crowds were a mix between rural and urban communities. She saw how people were accepted at rodeo no matter what their background was and how rodeo inspired the masses. This is what led Avalon on the journey to becoming Miss Rodeo Oregon. Rodeo is about inviting people into the community that might not otherwise have a chance to experience it and teaching them how they can become a
part of this community.
In 2021 Avalon was found vying for the prestigious title of Miss Rodeo Oregon. In addition to winning the title, she won the awards of Knowledge, Speech, Personality, and the coveted Horsemanship award. She was also chosen by her peers as the recipient of the Congeniality award. During her year as Miss Rodeo Oregon, Avalon will travel over 30,000 miles throughout Oregon and the United States promoting the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the state of Oregon.
In her free time, Avalon works as a riding instructor as well as coaches a high school equestrian team. She loves to spend time outdoors whether it’s trail riding, skiing, or hanging out by a lake. She hopes to earn a Master’s degree and go on to develop a program that brings both urban and rural youth together to learn about each other’s lifestyles and the importance of working cohesively in each of their respective industries. This year, as Miss Rodeo Oregon, Avalon is looking forward to getting to know the diverse population of Oregonians better as she travels throughout the state. She hopes that in her travels she has the opportunity to learn from industry experts as well as share some of her wisdom with the next generation. Avalon and the whole MROIF would like to thank the Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo for being our home once again and the great hospitality they show to our organization. Some of the best volunteers around!! Let’s Rodeo!!
