NONE OF THEM IS LOST of Jesus actively took upon that responsibility, the growth of the church would be wonderful! It is conceivable that the growth of the church has been undermined by our attitude to this all-important prayer responsibility. If we are sincere with ourselves, we would agree that we have goofed in prayer. And we ought to humble ourselves and commit to make changes. The apostles understood this responsibility very well, having been primary beneficiaries of it. The prayers of Jesus in John 17 were not made in secret but in the presence of all of them. They heard Him as He committed them to God in prayer. More than that they had benefitted practically from the encounter that made them to fall in the face of temptation, and they understood the charge that Jesus gave that they should strengthen their brethren. Even Paul, the apostle who joined later understood this responsibility profoundly. It is reflected in his myriad of prayers expressed in his various epistles to the churches. We find examples in virtually all his epistles - Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, Romans, etc. Check out two of them here: 133.
