P. 42

SANCTIFY THEM WITH YOUR TRUTH and purged continually so that we can be suitable vessels in the house and hands of God to accomplish His expectation of fruitfulness in our lives. Please take note of the ‘responsibility’ that is conveyed in these scriptures. It says that “if anyone cleanses himself from dishonour, he will be a vessel of honour.” This scripture applies to us and to those who we may have to pray this prayer of sanctification for. The fact that Jesus prayed for us to be sanctified by the word of truth does not mean that we do not have a responsibility to pray exactly the same prayer for ourselves. We must not abdicate our personal responsibility for our own salvation, fruitfulness and spiritual wellbeing. We are counselled to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We have a responsibility to pray for ourselves to ensure that we are purged of anything that makes our bodies and spirits to dishonour God just as we have another responsibility to ensure that those committed into our hands to care for are also purged from dishonour so that God can use them for His glory. 39.
