WELCOME
to Salem
Salem’s Haunted Happenings celebration is truly unique, and I am sure you will have a great time. Salem is one of America’s most historic seaports, and in October we take the fun-filled activities to even greater heights.
Explore our historic waterfront, learn about Salem’s remarkable history in museums and attractions, and enjoy our many terrific restaurants. Festivals and special events make Salem a fun and welcoming community year-round. Through the hard work of residents, local partners, and City employees magic comes to life here in Salem. And you can be part of it!
While you’re enjoying our community, please be safe, and respectful and mindful of your surroundings. Public safety is our top concern in October. Salem Police and other public safety officials are on duty to keep everyone safe throughout the month. If you see or hear something unusual, please call (978) 744-1212 or dial 911 for emergencies.
Finally, part of what makes Salem a great place to visit is that it’s a great place to live! Please respect downtown residents, keep late-night noise levels to a minimum, and respect private and public property. The City enforces local laws very strictly in October, and many fines — including parking fines — increase significantly in Salem this time of year.
We all love October and the celebration that it brings. Working together, we can ensure that Salem remains magical for everyone. Because from frights to sights, Salem has it all. Thanks for visiting our magical city and we hope you return again soon. Happy Haunted Happenings!
Dominick Pangallo
Mayor, City of Salem
