NEW LEGAL REQUIREMENTS -
The Corporate Transparency Act went into effect on January 1, 2024. It requires most new and existing corporate entities in the United States to file reports on their beneficial owners with the federal government. Reports are to be filed with the Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN.
PRACTICE TIP -
Check with your Errors and Omissions Insurance provider to see how they handle “failure to calendar” complaints. A lawyer failing to file documents on time is the most common
written down. Desk calendars are only $1.25 (plus tax) and may prove invaluable if the Internet goes down.
