ACTION!
AT THE 28TH ANNUAL TPCBA
ACADEMY AWARDS® CONVENTION

This year, on a beautiful sunny weekend in September, the
Tacoma Pierce County Lawyers packed their bags and gathered
at the Icicle Village Resort in Leavenworth for the 28th Annual
Convention. Such a fun time was had by all!
The setting was gorgeous! The CLEs left attendees asking for more. There
were smiles, laughter and congeniality everywhere!
For all those that were able to make it to the Friday afternoon CLEs,
we had some very interesting and thought-provoking presentations!
Tacomaprobono educated us on tenant protections and Commissioner
McLeod walked us through the complicated (but necessary) world
of Minor Guardianship. This was followed by two social hours where
everyone got to catch up, share stories, and enjoy dinner!
As is always the case, we were up early Saturday morning for another
round of learning. But first, breakfast! Attendees enjoyed a full breakfast
buffet daily! Then Matt Thomas, from the Pierce County Prosecuting
Attorney’s office, put on a presentation about Fraud Prevention. The
main take-away of this talk: Never write a check again! Other CLE
speakers included games and trivia in their presentations. It was a fun
and engaging morning!
For the afternoon, it was on to golf at the Leavenworth course, a pretzel
making class, swimming, sight seeing, shopping, ice cream eating,
miniature golf, and beer tasting!
Then, Roll Out The Red Carpet for the Saturday night “Academy
