an experienced, respected, powerful
advocate – Robin Balsam. Because she
believes in me, I believe in myself. So, my
advice to new and young lawyers is (1)
find mentorship in attorneys you want
to emulate, because their knowledge
and encouragement is invaluable, and
(2) come to our New & Young Lawyers
monthly meetings, and get support from
other new attorneys who can empathize
with your experiences!
7. What are your professional
goals for the next few years?
At the start of 2024, my firm became
“Balsam Quinlan P.S.” Taking on a
management role has been a considerable
learning process. To that end, my goals
for the next few years are to listen, learn,
and work hard, all in the furtherance of
my development as an attorney, but also
as a leader. I hope that I can contribute
to my firm’s growth and perpetuate the
quality legal services it has provided to
Pierce County since 1989.
8. How do you see your role
evolving within the Association
and the legal community at
large?
The experiences and relationships I have
gained from my involvement in TPCBA
have been an essential part of my first few
years as an attorney, and I plan to stay
involved. I look forward to my term as
President of the New & Young Lawyers
section in 2025, where my focus will be
on increasing section membership and
encouraging active participation from
current members.
Christopher Walsh is an attorney at
Poli, Moon & Zane, where his practice
focuses primarily on representing
policyholders in disputes with
insurance carriers. Christopher is a
member of the American Association
for Justice, an EAGLE member of
the Washington State Association
for Justice, and currently serving
his second term as an elected Board
member of the Tacoma-Pierce County
Bar Association’s New and Young
Lawyers Section. In his free time,
Christopher enjoys playing music,
cooking and spending time with his
family.

As a fifty plus year
member of WSBA, there
was no question in my mind
about joining the Justice Society
and naming the Endowment for
Equal Justice in my will. I want
to make sure that people who
need legal representation at critical times in their
lives can access it, no matter how meager their
resources. The Endowment is working to take some
of the stress out of their lives with civil legal aid.
The Endowment provides support in perpetuity for
the Legal Foundation of Washington in making
our communities more equitable places to
live, work and raise a family. Please join me.
