Richard Sanders (Retired) has joined the firm as “Of Counsel.”
As an attorney in private practice, Justice Sanders became
well-known for representing builders and property owners
battling land use constraints. While in private practice, Richard
Sanders litigated more than 100 appeals, 60 of which resulted in
published opinions. He served as an adjunct professor teaching
appellate advocacy at the University of Washington Law
School. As a private practitioner and Justice, he defended our
constitutionally protected liberties.
While at the Washington Supreme Court, Justice Sanders
authored 142 majority opinions, 67 concurring opinions,
and 357 dissents.
