Briefly...
A Word from the Executive Director
By Kit Kasner
Our very successful 28th Annual Bar Convention was held last month in Leavenworth, and I want to thank the committee, the volunteers and all the generous sponsors that supported it. We greatly appreciate everyone’s help. Watch the next Pierce County Lawyer magazine (Nov/Dec) for the follow-up article, full list of sponsors and exhibitors as well as some fun photos of the event for your enjoyment.
Right now, if
you have your calendars and phones available... add these upcoming CLEs

Guardianship Seminar LaQuinta Inn

Watch your email for flyers and details. This information is up on our website plus we are always happy to sign you up for CLEs by phone; just give us a call at 253 272-8871 and have your Visa/MC information available.
In each “Briefly” I ask if you are interested in writing an article for the Pierce County Lawyer magazine and I will continue to ask, as we need more writers for all the current events plus articles of interest. So...the November/ December year-end holiday issue deadline is October 10. Email your article to both elizabeth.vincent@piercecountywa.gov and to director@tpcba.com.
Panel members are needed for TPCBA’s Lawyer Referral Service. See the ad on the back of this magazine for more details, email lrs@tpcba.com.
Initial notice re 2024 membership dues... the 2025 year is around the corner and TPCBA dues notices/reminders will be emailed in late October or early November. Remember courthouse security readers will not recognize your courthouse ID badge after 1/1/25. You will need to pay your dues and get your new sticker in order to have your badge activated for the new year. You will be able to pay online and your new sticker will be sent, but do it early, don’t have the hassle of security confiscating your card due to non-payment of dues!
Be a TPCBA Board Member in 2025: Do you want to serve on the TPCBA Board of Trustees next year? The open positions will be: ONE President-Elect, ONE Secretary-Treasurer and THREE Trustees. The “Statement of Intent” (see page 34) is due December 31 along with your photo and a short bio about why your colleagues should choose you
when they vote in January.
I’ll end with a Halloween joke...
How can you tell when a vampire has been in a bakery? All the jelly has been sucked out of the jelly doughnuts.
Happy Halloween everyone!
