Welcome to Friday Night Lights, Westlake’s version, where the stadium is packed,
the concessions are fantastic and you will be highly entertained! Each of the stu-
dent groups represented here tonight (football, band, EVE, cheer, Hyline, and TEC)
contributes to the energy and spirit of what makes Westlake one of the top school
districts in the country! But let’s talk about that Chap Band!!!
Our Marching Band consists of over 200 students who compete at the highest levels
in one of the most competitive regions in the entire country! A few of their acco-
lades:
U.I.L. “1” ratings for 30+ years
Top tier 6A marching band consistently ranked among top marching bands in
state & nation (UIL State finals 3 of the last 4 years)
Elite Color Guard/EVE Program Varsity State Champs 2022-2025, ranked #6 in
WGI Worlds, award-winning JV & MS cadet teams
2022 Exemplary Band Program Award from Texas Bandmasters Association
Top Concert Band in U.S. 2021 & 2022 (4x elite Midwest Clinic invitations)
In addition, our Chap Band is nationally recognized for its comprehensive programming, including student growth/
leadership opportunities, full orchestra & overall music education excellence to develop well-rounded students &
leaders who are ALSO great musicians!
For those “new to Band”, the marching band consists of woodwind and brass instrumentalists, the percussion drum-
line, the percussion Front Ensemble, and the Elite Visual Ensemble (EVE) colorguard, all under the on-field direction
of our four drum majors. You’ll also see many CHAPerones who assist with the props and equipment on and off the
field. The student-musicians and EVE colorguard will have dedicated more than 45,000 person-hours by the end of the
season, all culminating in a single, 8-minute performance. That’s quite an investment for one, final, adjudicated routine
but we promise you, it will be worth it! With that in mind, the Westlake Chaparral Band is proud to present this year’s
show, Urban Jungle.
We also want to take a moment to introduce you to our AMAZING Band staff:
Mr. Thomas Turpin our Director of Bands; Assistant Directors Mr. Austin Byers, Mr. John Pearson and Mr. Ben
Armeni; Ms. Kaysey Thompson, our EVE Director; and Ms. Raleigh Taylor. This staff dedicates countless hours and
energy to teaching and supporting our Band and EVE students and we are lucky to have them!
We want to give a special shout out to all of our patrons and sponsors mentioned in this program. If you see a business
name in here, please reward them with your patronage in the future, and tell them you saw their ad here. Your contri-
butions in support of the students is greatly appreciated!
In closing, we are immensely grateful to our Westlake Band Parents Board, leaders and all the parents, friends, families,
