Dear Westlake Chaparral Football Family,
It has been an honor and a ton of fun to be your Varsity Team Parents for the 2022 football season! We are so grateful to Coach Salazar and his wife Adrienne for inviting us to be a part of the football staff. Their leadership and commitment to the team, the boys and our families is unmatched and makes this program so special. To the parents who volunteered endlessly, cheered in the spirit line, the sendoffs, and the stands – you make this program the Pride of the Hills and we sincerely appreciate all your help.
We ended with a fantastic 14-1 season, celebrated a 54-game win streak (the longest in the country at that time), and a State Semi-Final Appearance. It all began back in August as we launched the season with our new head coach at Chap Fest. August seems so long ago and feels like just yesterday at the same time.
The season flew by. We beat Lake Travis again this year at home. We welcomed our newest District 6A competition in Dripping Springs by trouncing them at their home stadium.
We went undefeated in District 25-6A and won District outright yet again. The Playoffs were a fun ride in 6A Division 1 as we won the Region IV Championship and made it to the State Semi-Final in Houston. In this football crazy state of Texas, these are amazing accomplish- ments. Our Chaparral Family was there every step of the way.
We would like to say a huge Thank You to our Parent Volunteer Chairs. The countless hours of time, energy, and creativity that you poured into our Chaparrals was not overlooked or taken for granted. Whatever the ask – homemade team breakfasts every Saturday? “No Problem”. Team lunches before Movie Day? “No Problem”. When we asked you to jump, you replied “how high”. And to our incredible Coaching Staff – the impact you have made on our sons and their teammates over the years is lifelong and goes way beyond the football field. The lessons they learned in team meetings, film review, on the practice field and the playing field have each made an impact that will last well into their future. To Adrienne and all the coaches’ wives and families, thank you for sharing your husbands and dads with us this season. It could not have been easy each week. To our fellow Senior Parents and
Players, we will cherish these memories and can’t wait to see what’s next in the lives of these outstanding young men.
The future of Westlake Football is in great hands with Coach Salazar and his staff, and we look forward to watching the Chaparrals for years to come!
Go Chaps! Stay True!
