Head Varsity Football Coach
Tony Salazar
Dear Westlake Football Family,
As we reflect upon the 2022 Season, there are countless, amazing sto- ries of perseverance, toughness, and love. Let me first say THANK YOU to the fifty-seven senior Westlake football players that chased
history and left a legacy that is unmatched in fifty-four seasons of Westlake football. Seniors, your championship trophies and pictures
will adorn the walls of the Ken Dabbs Fieldhouse forever; YOU have
set the standard for what it means to be a Chaparral! On behalf of the Coaching Staff, THANK YOU for your trust, and thank you for your commitment to Westlake Football.
Fall Camp seems so very long ago, but it started with our program on a forty game win streak. This Team proudly carried the weight, challenge, and responsibility of that streak for eighteen weeks in a row. Think about that, for eighteen straight weeks you prepared at a
championship level no matter the opponent. You dedicated your life to be a part of a TEAM, and you bound together through injuries, sickness, and hurdles to persevere. Society often
encourages us to defer blame on others for inadequate performances. Society wants us to find an excuse as to why we can’t get it done. But NOT Westlake Football, and not you. You learned how to grind through tough days, how to be a friend, how to take care of and protect one another, and you learned to WIN as a Team whose heart reflects the numbers you all wear on your helmets, 3616. I am so proud of each and every person on this team who made this season remarkable.
This is your program, and you left it better than you found it. Thank you to our Team Parents for your tremen- dous support this season. We appreciate your time and efforts to support our student-athletes. Thank you to our coaches’ families who grant us the time and freedom to build relationships with our players that will last our lifetimes. Parents, thank you for sharing and trusting your sons with us. It is our honor to work with the young men you’ve raised. Seniors, attack the next chapters and challenges in your lives with the same discipline, preparation and passion that you showed our football program. Just as you did at Westlake, go into the world and leave it a better place.
Family on 3 Love,
