Head Varsity Football Coach
Todd Dodge
Westlake Coach Todd Dodge closed out an incredible coaching career by leading the Chaparrals to their third consecutive Texas high school football championship. The title was the seventh overall for Dodge, who also won four at Southlake Carroll.
As Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, Dodge boasts undefeated seasons in 2017, 2020 and 2021. He has had four trips to the Texas State Championship semi-finals (2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021). His overall career coaching record is 233-72.
The last three years at Westlake High School Dodge went 45-1 with three consecutive 6A State Championships. He was named 2021 National High School Football Coach of the Year by High School Football America (HSFA) and the National High School Coach- es Association (NHSCA). He also garnered 2021 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year honors.
Dodge totals 36 years in coaching, 23 of those years as a head football coach. He has won 233 games in 23 years and goes into retirement on a 40-game win streak, the third-longest active streak in America by a public school. Westlake ended 2021 ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings. It was the second consecutive year the Chaparrals finished No. 2 in the HSFA national rankings.
Coach Dodge discovered his passion for the game early on in high school in Port Arthur, Texas. He was two-time AP All- State & Player of the Year and as a senior, he was selected to the Parade All-American Team. In 2001, he was inducted into the Port Arthur Yellow Jacket Hall of Fame and in 2007, was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
While attending the University of Texas at Austin, Coach Dodge played quarterback and started 23 games with a record of 19-4. He began his coaching career immediately after graduation. In 2004, he was Head Coach for the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) North All-Stars, in 2006, he was the Offensive Coordinator for the Army All-American game and in 2017, he served as the Head Coach for the Army All-American game.
As a high school coach, Coach Dodge has been named National Coach of the Year four times. During his five-year run at Southlake Carroll from 2002-2006, he was 79-1 with five consecutive state championship appearances at the Texas 6A level – winning the state championship four times during that run.
To date, Coach Dodge has mentored 10 quarterbacks who were named Texas State Offensive Players of the Year, while four have also been named Parade All-American.
Coach Dodge has been married to Elizabeth Neptune Dodge for 34 years. They have two children – a son, Riley who currently serves as Southlake Carroll’s Head Football Coach and is married to Alexis and a daughter, Molly who recently married Weston Kuenstler. Todd and Elizabeth are the proud grandparents of Tate Riley, Landry Mack and Blakely Dodge.
