Dear Westlake Chaparral Football Family,
It has been an honor and a lot of fun to serve as your Varsity Team Parents for the 2018 foot- ball season. We are so grateful to Coach Dodge and his staff for the leadership of this team. The parents who volunteered endlessly, cheered in the spirit line, at the games and congratu- lated and hugged the boys after the game—you make this program the Pride of the Hills and we are very sincere in our gratitude for all your help this season.
We ended with a remarkable 13-2 season that started back in August with training camp
and a fabulous kick-off at Chap Fest and a silent auction! August seems like so long ago and yet like yesterday at the same time. The season flew by in our eyes. We endured weeks of sticky, hot humid Friday Night Lights and the next week it was winter! We sacked Lake Travis—AGAIN this year. We went undefeated in District 25-6A to win the championship title outright. We won the Bi-District and Region games. AGAIN! We made it to the State 6A Semi Finals. AGAIN! In this football-loving (possibly governing) state, these are amazing feats. Our Chaparral Family was there every step of the way and what a wonderful season we were fortunate enough to have experienced.
We would like to say THANK YOU to our Parent Volunteer Chairs. The countless hours of time and energy that filled your days for Chaparral Football was not overlooked or taken
for granted. To those that said “what can I do to help?” And then you did—over and over. We are very appreciative. To our Coaching Staff—the impact you made on our son and his teammates are lifelong. The lessons he learned in the team meetings, film review, on the practice field and the playing field—have each made an impact that we are certain will carry on as he takes his next steps towards his future. To the coach’s wives and families—thank you for sharing your husbands and dads with us this season--it could not have been easy each week. Another big thank you goes to Rene Gense, whose calm, unending assistance and direction, encouragement, and support was relied on so much through the season.
To the Senior Parents and Players—our memories and pride for these players will keep us together. Congratulations, Seniors! Your
footprints are big! The future of Westlake
football looks to be full of success and long
season memories and we are looking forward to cheering you from our seats!
We worked hard this season—we fed the boys well, we enjoyed each other’s company and we celebrated our success. It was almost like having a weekly family reunion. We are so grateful for our Chaparral Family! Go Chaps!
