THE ACT OF PENITENCE
PRIEST: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we
confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins, and cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.
ALL: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and one
another, in thought, word and deed, and in what we have left undone. We
are sorry and repent of all our sins. For your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,
forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may serve you in newness of life
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
PRIEST: Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your
sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in life eternal;
through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
ALL: Amen
OFFERTORY HYMN. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . “I’m Glad I Counted the Cross”
1 When first I started to seek the Lord, I’m glad I counted the cost; I fully measured to Jesus’ word, I’m glad I counted the cost. 3 I’ve bid farewell to this world of sin,
I’m glad I counted the cost;
And now my Jesus abides within,
I’m glad I counted the cost.
Chorus:
I’ve paid the price and obtained the prize, He saved my soul that was lost; And now my treasures are in the skies, I’m glad I counted the cost. 4 Although the trials seem hard to bear,
I’m glad I counted the cost;
I now my burdens with Jesus share,
I’m glad I counted the cost.
2 I laid my sorrows at Jesus’ feet, I’m glad I counted the cost; And now I’ve pleasures so pure and sweet, I’m glad I counted the cost. 5 ’Twill not be long till the Lord shall come,
I’m glad I counted the cost;
And bear my soul to that heav’nly home,
I’m glad I counted the cost.
OFFERTORY PRAYER
PRIEST: Through your goodness, Lord, we have this bread and wine to offer, the fruit of
the earth and the work of human hands. They will become our spiritual food.
ALL: All things come from you, O Lord, and of your own do we give you. Blessed be
God for ever. Amen.
THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
PRIEST: The Lord be with you
ALL: And also with you
PRIEST: Lift up your hearts
ALL: We lift them up to the Lord
PRIEST: ALL: Let us give thanks to the Lord Our God
It is right to give God thanks and praise
PRIEST: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give you
thanks, Father almighty, everlasting God:
