LATER CAREER AND RETIREMENT
In 2007, Mrs. Wilson transitioned to a new role as Deputy Director at the Ports
Authority in Grand Turk. When the Ports became a statutory body in March
2009, she remained with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, briefly
serving as Deputy Supervisor of Elections before being appointed as District
Commissioner of Salt Cay in 2011.
In October 2015, she became the District Commissioner of Salt Cay for the
second time, a position she held with distinction until June 2023, marking her
second retirement from government service after more than eight years in the
role.
In January 2024, she joined Shoprite in Grand Turk, a family-owned business
operated by Mr. Dale Grant and Mrs. Mavis Williams. She enjoyed her time there
until the store closed in December 2024.
PERSONAL LIFE AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
A devout Anglican, Mrs. Wilson is an active member of her church. She serves
faithfully in the Anglican Church Women’s group and sings in the Anglican Church
Choir. She has a deep passion for helping the elderly and enjoys spending her
free time watching television.
Almada Verniece Wilson’s life has been a testament to hard work, commitment,
and community service. Her unwavering dedication to her family, career, and
faith continues to inspire those around her.
