Chapdter four
Starting all Over Again
After graduating from high school, Patsy and Pearly were packed (one suitcase) to travel to The Bahamas because back then prospects of finding a job was slim to none. She flew on the late Ed Hedgar’s plane leaving her sister behind (she opted at the last minute to stay). Sharing her time between Uncle Coralin’s family in Pine Dale, and Auntie Pat’s in Freeport, Patsy readjusted to life in The
Bahamas.
When Patsy met Calvert, she was but eighteen years old; he was twenty- one. He wined her and dined her and showered her with nice things. He literally swept her off her
feet! They became one on April 26th, 1981 and on October 21st Camio was born. Patsy was a devoted wife and mother. She balanced wifely duties with being independent! When she gave birth to Calia on June
27th 1988, her nuclear
family was complete! Being family oriented, she would ensure that her children spend summers in the islands with their grandparents and cousins, compliments of Auntie Pearly.
