A Different World
Though Turks and Caicos was her place of birth, Patsy grew up thinking she was a Bahamain. Her family migrated to The Bahamas when she was a toddler. Her formative years were spent attending the Martin Town Primary School and the Church of God of Prophecy in Pine Dale, Grand Bahama. The childhood friends, such as Oralee Missick, Sherry Parker Caan and Rosemary Forbes Braynen have lasted until her dying day!
Upon relocating to the Turks and Caicos Islands with her parents and siblings in 1973, Patsy set about creating more friendships. She’d always say that Penditha Hutchinson aka “Lala” was her first Turks Island friend. She attended the newly established Junior High School in Bottle Creek and discovered a passion for Civics (later manifested as politics) under the influence of the late Conrad Higgs.
Another NCJHS former teacher, Mrs Susan Musgrove, also had a special place in her heart. Friendships made with Judy Handfield and other classmates only grew stronger as they matured into adulthood.
