potato salad hands down. For more than twenty years, she was the executive assistant at The Women’s Treatment Center, whose mission to help women was close to Phyllis’s heart. She recently became board secretary for The ROSE, an organization that also ministers to the needs of vulnerable women. When she wasn’t working, spend- ing time with her family, or volunteering, she could be found bowling on Friday nights with the church’s bowling league. Anybody who knew her, knows she
loved “bowl-l-l-l-ing.” She was the captain of her team, and it was one of the last things she got to do. “She looked so good Friday after getting her hair done, and she bowled really well last Friday night too,” said her teammate Teri on social media. “She was, as she usually is, in such good spirits.”
Wherever Phyllis’s friends invited her, she went because she loved supporting them and the things they cared about. And that’s exactly what she was doing the moment she began to make her transition from this life. Saturday, October 28, 2017, Phyllis was up early, on her way to participate in Zumba with her friend Sharon for a good cause. She also arose with a determination to wait on the Lord for direction in her life. Later that morning, she heard
His voice in the midst of her two-step. Then early Sunday morning, she fol- lowed His steps into eternal rest. We have no doubt she will hear these words: Well done, good and faithful ser- vant. Phyllis fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. (2 Tim- othy 4:7). In her very last moment, she said, “Yes, Lord.”
Phyllis was pre- ceded in death by her fa- ther, Percy LuVert, and her nephew, Percy C. LuVert IV. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Aar- on McReynolds and David (Elizabeth) Burrell; her children by way of the late Kimberlyn Kelly: Yahki- ma Jones, Tahmeka Kelley, and Kiowa Kelley; her grandchildren: Aariyanna McReynolds, David Bur- rell Jr., Laylah McReynolds, Alaynah McReynolds, Jayden McReynolds, Jayden Burrell, and Eli Burrell; her mother, Jennie LuVert; her siblings: Henry (Ar- brella) LuVert, Clifton LuVert, Percy (Linda) LuVert III, Gary (Doreen) LuVert, and Jennifer LuVert; six nieces, three nephews, five great-nieces, four great nephews, four aunts, two uncles, and a host of cous- ins and friends. She also leaves three special women, her daughters-in-love: Voneice Hall, Vanessa Echols,
and Grace Demus.
Phyllis will be truly missed.
Beautiful inside and out.
