DESTINATION:
RETIREMENT
A CAREER OF SERVICE REWARDED IN RETIREMENT
After a career serving her community through her work as a respiratory therapist at Wishard Memorial Hospital, now Eskenazi Health, Josette Randolph is enjoying a secure retirement thanks, in part, to her bene t from INPRS.
One of the things Josette enjoyed most about her job
was her ability to make an impact, speci cally helping with clinical trials for premature infants. One study’s goal was to test a new treatment to help the infants’ under-developed lungs. Without this treatment, premature babies were often at
the hospital for up to a year and, with this new treatment, their stay was dramatically reduced. "It was like a miracle, the way this treatment worked," she remembers.
Josette worked at Wishard
for 17 years, after working at several other area hospitals. In the 1980s, when Josette hired on, it was common for those in the medical eld to move from hospital to hospital, as jobs were plentiful. Not all hospitals provided a retirement bene t and those that did had vesting schedules that she and many of her colleagues never met.
While Josette knew that she’d receive a retirement bene t once she became vested in
her INPRS plan, she also took advantage of Wishard’s deferred compensation plan. When she retired, Josette selected the 100 Percent Survivor Bene t. This gave her peace of mind that, should she pass away before her husband, Dick, he would have nancial security
with her INPRS bene t. She also chose to purchase an annuity with her de ned contribution account for an additional lifetime bene t.
Today, Josette enjoys spending time with her family, tending to her garden, getting together with girlfriends for monthly bridge and euchre games and volunteering at her church.

GIVING A VOICE TO OUR MEMBERS
INPRS is proud to serve over 472,000 members and retirees. To keep your needs at the center of every decision, we have a program that gives you a voice. Our strategic research effort, called “The Voice of the Customer” (VOC) is an initiative that provides real-time member feedback to INPRS employees as they work to pay out retirement bene ts, provide diverse investment options, assist customers and offer an easy-to-use web experience.
The VOC team regularly sends out email surveys to gain insight on member satisfaction on a variety of topics, such as general satisfaction with INPRS and experience with the self-service secure website. When appropriate, we will also conduct phone surveys. INPRS also organizes focus groups to provide more detailed feedback on our services. This past fall, the VOC invited members to try out our new online retirement application before we introduced it to members in January. During the focus group, we gained valuable insight on the retirement application’s ease of use and used our members' feedback to improve the application.
Each issue of Destination: Retirement will provide a snapshot of our VOC initiative and how we’re using your feedback to serve you better.
