SCA PRESIDENT
What a rst 4 months it has been. We are now well in the grip of the Covid19 pandemic and this will continue to have a signi cant e ect on all members and clubs for the foreseeable future. We have provided some information in the magazine from Shooting Australia with links to Federal and State Government websites. I recommend that we all take our information from these areas, speci c to your location and adhere to the advice and recommendations given. South Australia’s police commissioner has given a directive to all shooting and sporting clubs to cease all activities until further notice.
All of the major FITASC shooting events worldwide have been postponed with competitor safety at the forefront of these decisions. SCA have updated our website with the new proposed dates, but no one knows with any certainty if these events will go ahead. This will be dependent on the spread and severity of the Covid19 pandemic around the world. These are uncharted times - We at SCA will do our best to keep our members informed on these matters as further advice becomes available.
2020 Australian Fitasc Grand Prix
A very successful 18th FITASC Grand Prix has been run with a full eld of entries. Steve and his team did a great job in running the event and it was very encouraging to see so many new shooters to the bigger events with many more B and C Grade competitors. I would like thank our partnership sponsors who have committed to 2020 with more to follow. We have made a major change in the prize pool to o er value to our sponsors and shooters. This will take a few events to nalize but in general has been well received by all. Congratulations to all who competed, your attendance made this event a great success!
Below you will see an article I wrote many years ago when I was an active committee member of Derwent Valley Field and Game in Tasmania. This was sent to me by one of the club members recently and I thought I would share this piece of history of our past as this year we have many clubs and association reaching the 50 year milestone. Whilst it will be di cult for these clubs and associations to run the events and receive recognition to this achievement, perhaps a small article in the local paper or an email to your members can give the acknowledgment of past services, to allow the celebration of such things to continue into the future.
I hope you and your families stay safe and well during these uncertain time.
