NEW SOUTH WALES
There is a lot of organising to be done between now and then, so please get in contact with Shirl, on 0418 621 423, and con rm your booking and attendance.
John & Sue Singleton, from Bermagui Motor Inn, have kindly made their Motel available, (with some great discounts), for travelling shooters, so if you would like to come to the Presentation night ,and you are looking for accommodation, give John & Sue a ring on 64934311 and con rm your booking.
The dinner will be a “pay for what you order” meal, o the Country Clubs extensive menu, and drinks will be available at bar prices.
Club Person of the year, Club O.T.G. and Hcp sashes will be presented and other novelty prizes will be given away. Should be a great night and prelude to our Christmas shoot the next day.
Because of the Myxo bug that is going around ,things could change dramatically at anytime. We will be in contact with everyone should the need arise. Fingers crossed.
Bermagui Sporting Clays has been in existence for 24 years, own our own grounds ,and have for many years, been trying to establish a Safety & Training day, once a month, to encourage new and Junior shooters into our sport. Despite our nearest neighbour being 2.5 kms away, the angst shown to our club has been astounding, a lot of it being pushed by a few self centred groups who are basically “anti gun “, there is one particularly nasty piece of work, who seems to derive much pleasure, in hopefully seeing us destroyed by Council.
This culminated in a little group of people forming a “hate group” from within the local community, and getting a hotch/potch report done, claiming that we have been contaminating the local, and beyond area, with lead shot.
Council reacted to this report by contacting us wanting some more in depth answers or we would be shut down. This was going to cost us a lot of money.
As a small country club, we have limited funds to counter act these sorts of accusations, and so we called upon the S.C.A. executive to help us out nancially, which they have done, and we thank them enormously. Now after several months of hard work, a 220 page report from one of the best environmental and soil analiyt companies in Australia, has just arrived on our desk, and we have got it o to B.V.S. Council today.
Now it is back in Councils court, and we will be hoping Council sees through this nely disguised group of antis.
This saga just goes to show what sel sh, anti gun, self interest groups, with a pre determined agenda, are capable of.
To ALL gun clubs....... BEWARE!!!
Hopefully, we will have some good news in the next edition of S.C.A. magazine.
Finally to all our members and their families, and friends within the clay target shooting fraternity, stay safe and be extra careful when travelling.
Cheers, Nev Brady
