PCMI Treasurer’s Report
By tradition, the PCMI Treasurer presents a Finance Report to the membership at the Annual Meeting held at the Spring Conference each year.
As we have not had an in-person meeting nor an Annual Meeting, what follows is a summary of the Finance Report that Treasurer Mike Soble presented to the PCMI Board of Directors this past January.

• Membership vs. Attendance vs Dues
Mike Soble presented the Statement of Financial Position and Activity dated December 31st. The following was noted:
• There is currently $72,486 in the checking account and $70,550 in the savings account.
• PCMI is currently showing a net income of $18,620.
• Membership, meeting income and website income are all below budget.
• Education, conference and meeting expenses are also all below budget.
• The Institute is in a very similar financial position to end 2020, as it was at the end of 2019 even with
COVID-19.
• Advertising income has decreased from 2019.
• There was no income from the Short Course in 2020.
• PCMI is still holding prepaid money from the originally schedule 2020 Spring Conference in Germany. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Michael L. Soble, (Mike), is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. After a short stay at an electrical utility company, Mike spent 5 years as an Engineer for a company that manufactured mass spectrometers.
In this capacity, Mike was responsible for multiple projects from conception through to operation. Tasks included the initial electrical design, final assembly, and performance testing to ensure compliance with customer specifications, installation and qualification at the customer’s facility.
In 1980, Mike accepted a position in the Electrical Engineering department at Chemcut. In his over 35 years at Chemcut, Mike has served as an Electrical Engineer, Development Engineer, Electrical Engineering Supervisor, Supervisor of Field Service and Customer Support, and Manager of Engineering (both Mechanical and Electrical).
In these various positions, Mike has managed projects from conception to implementation, supervised product development, scheduled and supervised multiple resources, interfaced with customers, and provided pre-sale and post-sales support .
In 2005, Mike became a part owner of Chemcut and moved to the position of Technical Sales Manager. In this capacity, Mike is responsible for Sales, design features, system configurations, and technical content of Chemcut wet processing equipment. His primary geographic focus areas are the western third of the United States and Europe.
In 2012, Mike became a member of Board of Directors of PCMI and was Membership Committee Chairman for five years.
